Central Limit Theorems for Open Quantum Random Walks∗

Open Quantum Random Walks, as developed in [1], are the exact quantum generalization of Markov chains on finite graphs or on nets. These random walks are typically quantum in their behavior, step by step, but they seem to show up a rather classical asymptotic behavior, as opposed to the quantum random walks usually considered in Quantum Information Theory (such as the well-known Hadamard random...

Quantum central limit theorem for continuous-time quantum walks on odd graphs

The method of spectral distribution only requires simple structural data of graph and allows us to avoid a heavy combinational argument often necessary to obtain full description of spectrum of the adjacency matrix. The idea of calculation of the probability amplitudes for continuous-time quantum walk, in terms of the spectral distribution associated with the adjacency matrix of graphs was firs...

The Central Limit Theorem : studying “ small ” deviations

Often, our goal is to understand how collections of a large number of independent random variables behave. This is what the laws of large numbers reveal. In general, the idea is that the average of a large number of i.i.d. random variables will approach the expectation. Sometimes that is enough, but usually, we also need to understand how fast does the average converge to the expectation. We sa...

Generalized Open Quantum Walks on Apollonian Networks

We introduce the model of generalized open quantum walks on networks using the Transition Operation Matrices formalism. We focus our analysis on the mean first passage time and the average return time in Apollonian networks. These results differ significantly from a classical walk on these networks. We show a comparison of the classical and quantum behaviour of walks on these networks.

A Central Limit Theorem for Random Walks in Random Labyrinths

Carol Bezuidenhout and Geoffrey Grimmett Abstract. A beam of light shines through the lattice Zd, and is subjected to reflections determined by a random environment of mirrors at the vertices of Zd. The behaviour of the light ray is investigated under the hypothesis that the environment contains a strictly positive density of vertices at which the light behaves in the manner of a random walk. W...
